5 February – Parcent to Jalon

Lovely morning for our walk, much better than the weather forecast of cloudy and overcast

On such a nice morning we were surprised not to see a single person between Parcent and Jalon

It still feels a little strange to be walking on our own, we both miss the company and the constant chatter

This walk has one of the best picnic sites.

The path is still quite damp, making the steeper sections much easier

Walking on our own made us realise just how much of the route is through woods

Reminded us of walking in Scotland and Northumberland, not at all Spanish.

We were pleased that the play area above Jalon, where we planned to have our picnic lunch, was not closed off due to coronavirus restrictions

We also quite liked this new addition

Most of the shops in Jalon were open, but did not seem to have any customers.  It was a shame to see so many bars closed, and those offering take away not doing any business.

We passed quite a few couples obviously out to enjoy the almond blossom.

The almond blossom was more impressive than our last walk on Monday

But still a lot of fields where the almond trees have been removed due to the blight.

This was out longest walk since Christmas, and we were glad to take a break at the Alcalali Ermita.
