5 December 2021 – Granadella

14 on today’s walk

This included Barry and Linda who are here for Christmas

And also Betty on her first walk with the group

It’s hard to believe that we last did this walk in November 2018

This is mainly because Jan does not like the ridge

As she was not walking today it seemed a good opportunity to do it again

Though I must admit it seemed much harder than I remember it to be

We planned to do this walk two weeks ago

But we cancelled because of a weekend of heavy rain

It is difficult enough when dry, it would be dangerous when wet

I was also a little concerned about heavy winds this past weekend

But in fact we had perfect walking conditions today

Bright sun all day showed the scenery, and photos, at their best

And a cool breeze made the climbs easier to manage

For most of the group this was their first time doing this walk

And I think most found it challenging but very rewarding

I had forgotten that today is a national holiday

So the route was busier than I have ever known it to be

But despite that a very enjoyable walk

And I hope it will not be three years before I do it again

Stats

Time taken – 5.5 hours

Distance – 9 km

29 November 2021 – Jalon to Parcent

 Fourteen of us today

This included Tony and Annette on their first walk with the group

It was also the first time we met Terry’s partner Helen

Bright, sunny morning as we set off from Jalon

A chilly 14c meant we all wore jackets

But the bitter, cold wind of yesterday was absent

We have to cancel the walk last week due to heavy rain

So we all really appreciated the ideal walking conditions today

I had hoped that Jan would be able to do this relatively easy walk

But unfortunately she was not able to do so

Lots of the usual banter throughout the walk

And the cooler temperatures meant a faster pace

So I was not surprised that we finished half an hour earlier than expected

But no one complained about getting to the bar earlier than planned

A very enjoyable walk but not the same without Jan

Stats

Time taken – 4.5 hours

Distance – 14 km

Total ascent – 140 metres

Temperature – 14-17c

15 November 2021 – Pedreguer Castell d’Axia

Ten of us on today’s walk

This included Adrian and Dee on holiday from the UK

Dark clouds as we set off from Pedreguer

The gentle climb soon warmed us up

It was sunny on the coast resulting in interesting views

And the sun appeared after an hour or so

By the time we reached the foot of the hill we were all in short sleeves

The climb is quite steep

And we paused a couple of times to get our breath back and admire the views

Everyone managed it ok

And soon reached the flat plateau at the top

At the trip point we had the usual group photograph

The spread out to enjoy our lunch

Richard loaned me his phone to check Jan was OK

Then time to admire the spectacular views

sit and soak up the sun

Or find your own spot to enjoy the experience

All too soon it was time to set off back to Pedreguar

Fortunately downhill all the way

This one really is a memorable walk

Stats

Time taken – 6 hours

Distance – 11 km

Total ascent – 525 metres

Temperature – 14-17c
